Ask Otago`s brief to our designers was to create the 'MAGNIFICENT!' They started by establishing how they would use texture, colour and culture. Incorporating large “Whariki” mats - empowered to learn, “Aronui’ basket weave – sharing of knowledge and “Harakeke” Flax - whanau/family. These elements combine to bring a sense of belonging in this diverse learning space, redefining the way students interact with the University support services.
With a collaborative approach across our wider group Annie Simpson-King from Miller Creative and Interior Designer - Mel Arnold from Designability, worked side by side to deliver a standout space at the heart of this growing world class university.
This project is now a finalist in the Best Awards 2019.
